Welcome! The Gulf Islands FOOD CO-OP is focused on serving the food producers, eaters, and local food sustainability of the Southern Gulf Islands, in British Columbia, Canada.
Collaborative community planning for this co-op initiative was originally hosted by the non-profit Heartwood Folk School Society (https://heartwoodfolkschool.org).
Then on September 27, 2017, the Gulf Islands FOOD CO-OP was officially incorporated as a non-profit Community Service Co-op, of the province of BC. You can see more about the Co-op’s structure, purposes, and process in our Memorandum and Rules, as filed for incorporation.
Now we’re about to start our official Membership Drive! Then the Directors to lead the Co-op forward will be elected at the first Annual General Meeting in January, 2019.
A majority of the Co-op’s Members and Directors will always be commercial or non-commercial food producers originating from the Southern Gulf Islands. However, food producers from other Gulf Islands, plus non-producing Active Supporters, are also welcome to be involved as Members and Directors in the evolution of the Co-op!
We also invite feedback about how we can best help you! info@gulfislandsfoodco-op.org
