Gathering for Community Resilience and Climate Action
September 14, 2019 at 1:30 at the Community Hall on North Pender
Climate change is happening (https://www.ipcc.ch/). Please join a wide variety of community organizations to share thinking about how best to ensure that the Pender Islands' Community is building resilience around our changing climate (See https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/climate-change) and acting to reduce our own contributions to climate change. We will be gathering to share ideas about our local actions and adaptations for these issues between 1:30pm and 3:30 at the Community Hall on North Pender. The outcomes of the meeting will be small working groups to engage in particular actions for the next 3-4 months. These groups will meet a few times a year to check in and refine projects or move onto new steps to foster better community resilience. Please bring your constructive ideas.
Those wishing to be further educated about climate change are welcome although this is not specifically the focus of the meeting. If you want to deepen your understanding of the climate change issue check out https://climateatlas.ca/climate-change-basics.
